This retrospective observational study evaluated the role of phytochemical-based therapeutics as adjuvant agents in cancer care by analyzing clinical records of 180 patients treated between 2015 and 2022. Data were collected on infection patterns, cardiovascular complications, oxidative stress biomarkers, and survival outcomes, with patients stratified into phytochemical users (n = 72) and non-users (n = 108). The results demonstrated that phytochemical users had lower rates of Klebsiella infections (25.0% vs. 42.6%), multidrug-resistant strains (12.5% vs. 34.3%), cardiovascular events (19.4% vs. 30.6%), and radiotherapy-related toxicities (37.5% vs. 56.5%). Biomarker analysis indicated reduced malondialdehyde and elevated antioxidant enzyme activity in the phytochemical group. Importantly, two-year survival was higher among phytochemical users (68.1% vs. 52.7%). These findings suggest that phytochemicals provide antimicrobial, cardioprotective, and radioprotective benefits, supporting their potential role as adjuvant therapies in oncology. Further prospective studies are recommended to validate these results and optimize therapeutic applications.
2025-10-26T05:19:14+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Sobri Maulana, Dwitia Pratiwi, Muhammad Rahman Muttaqinhttps://jurnal.univefarina.ac.id/index.php/Jurkes/article/view/152Radiographic Technique of the Right Ankle Joint in a Case of Calcaneal Spur at the Radiology Unit of Efarina Etaham Hospital, Pematangsiantar, 20232025-10-26T07:07:30+00:00Anna Maria Theresa Sihalohoannamariatheresas@gmail.comBambang Kustoyoannamariatheresas@gmail.com
X-rays can show the presence of fluid, spur formation, narrowing, and changes in bone structure. A calcaneal spur is an abnormal bone growth in the inferior part of the calcaneus. It can usually be caused by microtrauma, aging, sports activities, and obesity. According to Lampignano and Kendrick, ankle joint examination techniques in cases of calcaneal spurs use AP, AP Mortise View, AP Oblique, Lateral, and AP Stress projections. According to Goost in his article, ankle joint radiography techniques in cases of calcaneal spurs use AP Mortise View and Lateral projections. Meanwhile, ankle joint examination techniques in cases of calcaneal spurs at the Radiology Unit of Efarina Etaham Hospital, Pematangsiantar use AP and Lateral projections. This study aims to determine the technique of ankle joint radiography in cases of calcaneal spurs. This research is a qualitative research type using a case study research method. Researchers collected data through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The results showed that ankle joint radiography techniques in cases of calcaneal spurs at the Radiology Unit of Efarina Etaham Hospital, Pematangsiantar use AP and Lateral projections. This projection is used because it complies with standard operating procedures. The film processing process at the Radiology Unit of Efarina Etaham Hospital in Pematangsiantar uses computer radiography.
2025-10-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Anna Maria Theresa Sihaloho, Bambang Kustoyohttps://jurnal.univefarina.ac.id/index.php/Jurkes/article/view/153The Relationship Between Early Mobilization and the Wound Healing Process in Post-Caesarean Section Patients at Efarina Etaham Hospital, Pematangsiantar, in 20242025-10-26T07:04:06+00:00Yeni Trisna Purbayenitrisnap@gmail.comRomauli Pakpahanpakpahanroma220@gmail.comSiska Sri Alisyawati Malausiskamalau1802@gmail.com
Mobilization is a rehabilitative (recovery) action carried out after the patient regains consciousness from anesthesia and after surgery. Mobilization is useful for assisting wound healing efforts. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between early mobilization and post-cesarean section wound healing at Efarina Etaham Hospital, Pematangsiantar. This study was a quantitative study with a descriptive design using a cross-sectional approach with a sample of 51 respondents taken by consecutive sampling. The results showed that the majority of respondents who carried out good mobilization were 41 (80.4%) and those who did not mobilize well were 10 (19.6%). The maternal wound healing process was in the good category as many as 38 (74.5%), as many as 4 (7.8%) had moderate wound healing, as many as 3 (5.9%) had mild wound healing, and 6 (11.8%) had poor wound healing. Based on the results of the chi-square test, it is known that there is a relationship between mobilization and wound healing in post-caesarean section patients at Efarina Etaham Hospital, Pematangsiantar, with the results of the statistical test p = 0.000 meaning p <α 0.05, which means H₀ is rejected, so there is a relationship between mobilization and the wound healing process in post-caesarean section patients at Efarina Etaham Hospital, Pematangsiantar.
2025-10-26T07:04:06+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Yeni Trisna Purba, Romauli Pakpahan, Siska Sri Alisyawati Malauhttps://jurnal.univefarina.ac.id/index.php/Jurkes/article/view/154Frequency of Polypharmacy Use in Geriatric Hypertension Prescriptions for Telkom Retirees at Kimia Farma Kartini Pharmacy, Pematang Siantar2025-10-26T07:30:40+00:00Muttakim Muttakimtakimadit1@gmail.com
The growth of the elderly population in Indonesia, which has exceeded 10% of the total population, has led to an increase in cases of degenerative diseases and multi-morbidity, including hypertension, which often requires the use of multiple medications (polypharmacy). This condition increases the risk of drug interactions that can reduce the effectiveness of therapy. This study aims to describe the characteristics of patients, drug use, drug interactions, and the level of polypharmacy in geriatric hypertensive patients at Kimia Farma Kartini Pharmacy, Pematang Siantar based on Telkom retiree prescriptions. The study used a descriptive method with a simple random sampling technique on 57 samples from a total population of 67 patients. The results showed that the majority of patients were women (54.39%) with an age group of 60–74 years (80.7%). The most commonly used hypertension medication was the Calcium Channel Blocker class (47.37%). A total of 36 patients experienced drug interactions with moderate interaction levels (68.42%) being the most dominant. The use of major polypharmacy was found in 75.44% of prescriptions. Increased education and supervision in providing drug information is needed so that patients take their medications according to the correct dosage and time.
2025-10-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Muttakim Muttakimhttps://jurnal.univefarina.ac.id/index.php/Jurkes/article/view/155Factors Associated with Diarrhea in Toddlers Aged 1-5 Years in the Perdagangan Community Health Center Work Area in 20242025-10-26T08:02:11+00:00Nur Masdalifahnurmazda92@gmail.comApri Dani Manurungmanurungapridani@gmail.com
Diarrhea is a major health problem in toddlers, characterized by a frequency of bowel movements more than three times per day with a watery consistency. In Indonesia, the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers reaches 6.7%, with the highest prevalence in the 1–4 year age group at 12.2%. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in the Perdagangan Community Health Center working area in 2024. This type of research is quantitative analytical with a cross-sectional approach, using primary and secondary data analyzed by the Chi-square test. The results showed that most respondents had insufficient knowledge (42.3%), negative attitudes (66.2%), and poor behavior (54.9%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge, attitudes, and behavior with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers (p < 0.05). In conclusion, improving health education and clean living behavior is essential to reduce the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in the Perdagangan Community Health Center working area.
2025-10-26T08:02:11+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Nur Masdalifah, Apri Dani Manurunghttps://jurnal.univefarina.ac.id/index.php/Jurkes/article/view/156Physiotherapy Management of Plantar Fasciitis Cases Using Ultrasound and Exercise Therapy at Pematang Siantar Army Hospital in 20232025-10-26T08:26:56+00:00Memo Siregarmemo73648@gmail.comSauri Manalusaurimanalu18@gmail.com
Physiotherapy is a form of health care aimed at individuals and groups to develop, maintain, and restore movement and body function throughout the life cycle using manual handling, movement enhancement, equipment (physical, electrotherapeutic, and mechanical), functional training, and communication. The Indonesian Physiotherapy Association as a professional organization has made various efforts to ensure the quality of physiotherapy services. PMK No. 65 of 2015 contains standards for physiotherapy services that regulate how physiotherapy services should be provided in health care facilities. Although all regulations have been in place, they do not fully reflect quality services. This study aims to determine the management of physiotherapy in reducing pain, increasing muscle strength, and improving functional activity abilities in cases of plantar fasciitis using ultrasound modalities and exercise therapy in the form of stretching and myofascial release. After six sessions of therapy, the results obtained were a decrease in pain at rest from T1:4 to T6:1, tenderness from T1:6 to T2:6, pain at movement from T1:8 to T6:5, and an increase in muscle strength from T1:4 to T6:5. The range of joint motion remained constant from the start of therapy to the sixth therapy.
2025-10-26T08:26:30+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Memo Siregar, Sauri Manalu
